Florida college football results do not get much cleaner than Saturday’s scoreboard: seven FBS programs, seven victories. Miami, Florida, Florida State, UCF, USF, FAU and FIU all won on September 26, only the second time the state’s seven FBS teams have gone undefeated on the same day.
The perfect record is fun trivia. The more useful story is what happened underneath it. Florida did not simply contribute one-seventh of a historic sweep; Jon Sumrall’s Gators destroyed a top-five opponent and moved into the SEC contender conversation. Miami strengthened an already serious national profile, USF stayed unbeaten, UCF opened Big 12 play with a meaningful win and FAU continued building momentum. Even the less glamorous victories helped FSU and FIU stabilize seasons that needed it.
For Florida, the road ahead on the Gators 2026 schedule now looks considerably different than it did a month ago.
Collectively, the seven programs outscored their opponents 238-77 on Saturday. They now own a combined 22-6 record.
That is not proof that Florida has suddenly reclaimed every corner of college football. It is evidence that the state enters October with far more relevant teams than anyone reasonably expected.
Florida College Football Results Had One Clear Headliner
Florida’s 52-28 demolition of then-No. 4 Ole Miss was the result that changed a season.
The Gators are 4-0 and 2-0 in SEC play after beating Auburn and Ole Miss in consecutive weeks. They jumped from No. 21 to No. 8 in the AP poll, returning to the top 10 for the first time since 2021.
More important than the ranking was how Florida won.
Jadan Baugh carried 29 times for 142 yards and three touchdowns. Duke Clark needed only 12 carries to add 126 yards and another score. Florida finished with 302 rushing yards, controlled possession for nearly 37 minutes and did not turn the ball over.
The official Ole Miss box score makes the transformation obvious: Florida did not steal an upset on a weird turnover or special-teams bounce. It accumulated 498 yards and scored 21 fourth-quarter points against a team that arrived in Gainesville ranked fourth nationally.
Florida won like the better team.
That changes expectations.
Baugh is no longer merely an exciting back having a strong September. He is the foundation of an offense capable of dictating an SEC game. Aaron Philo, meanwhile, completed 16 of 23 passes for 196 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions while adding a rushing score.
Florida does not need Philo to throw for 350 yards when Baugh and Clark can force defenses to devote extra bodies to the box. It needs him to make those defenses pay for doing it.
So far, he has.
Miami Is Doing What a National Contender Should Do
Miami’s 52-3 victory over Central Michigan was less dramatic because the Hurricanes were supposed to win comfortably.
They did.
That matters.
Darian Mensah completed 23 of 27 passes for 338 yards and three touchdowns. Malachi Toney caught six passes for 120 yards and a score. Miami generated 572 total yards, committed no turnovers and held Central Michigan to 158.
The Hurricanes dominant performance pushed them to 4-0, and Miami has since risen to No. 4 nationally.
There is little mystery about the Hurricanes now. Mensah is playing highly efficient quarterback, Toney has developed into a major receiving weapon, and Miami has enough offensive balance to punish teams that overplay either phase.
Miami’s standard has changed.
Beating Central Michigan is not impressive by itself. Beating Central Michigan 52-3 without wasting possessions is what serious teams are supposed to do before the schedule becomes harder.
And it becomes harder immediately. Miami travels to Clemson on October 3.
That will tell us considerably more than Saturday did.
USF and UCF Won in Ways That Matter Later
USF’s 14-6 victory at Bowling Green will not appear in many national highlight packages.
Brian Hartline probably does not care.
The Bulls are 4-0 for the first time since 2018 after winning a game in which they trailed 6-0 through three quarters. D.J. Crowther carried 23 times for 143 yards and scored the touchdown that finally created separation.
USF committed two turnovers and produced only 240 total yards. There is plenty to clean up.
But winning ugly on the road is a skill, especially for a program learning how to handle expectations again.
UCF’s 21-13 win over TCU was more significant from a conference standpoint.
The Knights improved to 3-1 by winning their Big 12 opener, and backup quarterback Keyone Jenkins gave Scott Frost an unexpected storyline by completing 19 of 20 passes for 160 yards and a touchdown.
That 95% completion rate set a UCF record for a quarterback with at least 15 attempts.
The Knights also forced four TCU turnovers.
Jenkins does not automatically create a quarterback controversy after one efficient afternoon. He does give UCF proof that the offense can function if Alonza Barnett III is unavailable.
With a trip to No. 20 Houston next, that is useful information rather than September trivia.
FAU Might Be the State’s Quietest Risers
Florida Atlantic’s season started with a 66-21 loss at Florida.
Three games later, the Owls are 3-1.
Their 45-17 win at Louisiana-Monroe was the clearest evidence yet that Zach Kittley’s offense is beginning to resemble what he was hired to build. FAU produced 577 total yards, ran 90 offensive plays and did not turn the ball over.
Caden Veltkamp threw for 313 yards and two touchdowns. Ethan Ervin rushed for 139 yards. Dominique Henry caught nine passes for 121 yards and two scores.
FAU has now won three straight games for the first time since 2020.
That trajectory deserves attention.
The Florida loss exposed the gap between FAU and a rising SEC program. The response since then has shown that one bad opener did not define the Owls.
Florida State and FIU Needed Stability More Than Headlines
Not every victory on a perfect Saturday carries national meaning.
Florida State beating Central Arkansas 34-7 does not erase losses to SMU and Alabama. It does move the Seminoles back to 2-2 while giving several important players productive afternoons.
Ashton Daniels threw for 224 yards and two touchdowns. Ousmane Kromah rushed for 86 yards and two scores. Jayvan Boggs delivered six catches for 122 yards and a touchdown.
FSU now needs that production to translate when ACC competition resumes.
FIU’s 20-3 victory over LIU served a similar purpose. The Panthers improved to 2-2, generated 394 yards and held LIU to 209.
Neither program should pretend Saturday solved everything.
It stopped things from getting worse.
Sometimes September requires exactly that.
The Perfect Saturday Changed Florida’s October Ceiling
The rarity of seven Florida FBS teams winning on one day makes September 26 memorable. The distribution of those wins makes it relevant.
Florida and Miami now sit inside the national top eight. USF is 4-0. UCF has already banked a Big 12 victory. FAU has won three straight. Florida State and FIU have returned to .500.
The most consequential development, though, belongs in Gainesville.
Florida entered the season trying to prove Sumrall could quickly rebuild belief around a program that had spent too many Saturdays searching for it. Four games later, the Gators have beaten Auburn on the road, crushed a top-five Ole Miss team and developed one of the country’s most productive rushing attacks.
That does not guarantee an SEC championship run. Missouri, Texas, Georgia and the rest of the schedule will demand more evidence.
But these Florida college football results changed the question.
The Gators are no longer being asked whether their September start is real.
Now they have to prove how far it can go.
